✨ Everyone in the U.S.—regardless of immigration status—has certain rights.
🤐 You Have the Right to Remain Silent
- • You do not have to answer any questions.
- • Clearly say: “I am exercising my right to remain silent.”
🚪 Do Not Open Your Door
- • Do not open the door unless officers show a valid warrant signed by a judge.
- • Ask them to slide the warrant under the door or show it through a window.
👨⚖️ Right to an Attorney
- • You have the right to speak with a lawyer before answering any questions.
- • Call CAIR-Minnesota immediately: 612-206-3360
✍️ Do Not Sign Anything
- • Do not sign any documents without speaking to a lawyer.
- • Signing something could harm your case or lead to removal.
👨👩👧 Inform Officers About Your Dependents
- • Tell officers if you have children or dependents who rely on you.
📋 Have a Family Emergency Plan
- • Prepare ahead to protect your loved ones in case you are detained.
✅ Carry Valid U.S. Immigration Documents
- • Only carry valid immigration documents issued to you (if you have them).
🚫 Avoid Carrying Foreign IDs or False Documents
- • Foreign documents can be used against you.
- • Never carry false documents of any kind.
👀 Be Careful Online
- • Be mindful of your social media activity to avoid unnecessary risk.
🚨 Do Not Share Unverified Information
- • Sharing rumors or unverified reports can cause harm.
